Unity House’s Dave Warren to speak at DV Conference

District Attorney’s Office Conference Focuses on Domestic Violence

The Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office is hosting a conference on April 19th at Hudson Valley Community College. The focus is understanding victim’s rights, medical impact, and prosecution of strangulation cases.

Dave Warren, Service Director for Unity House’s Domestic Violence Services program, will speak to the psychological effects of domestic and dating abuse. Other speakers include:
Prof. Mary A. Lynch, Albany Law School
Dr. John Janikas, Dir. of Emergency Medicine at Albany Memorial Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital, and Samaritan Hospital
Lisa Baehre, Asst. District Attorney, Niagara County
Bob Passonno, Coordinator of the Criminal Justice Training Programs for the NYS Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence
Kelly Fox, Survivor of domestic violence

In addition, DA Abelove, HVCC President Matonak, and Sen. Kathy Marchione will speak in welcoming attendees.

This conference is geared toward: DV prosecutors, educators, advocates and social workers, law enforcement, judicial officers, medical professionals, policy makers, community-based service providers, and clergy.
