Toiletries Donated by Caring Crew

TJ Maxx Does it Again!

Staff and friends at the TJ Maxx store in Troy spent the month of July collecting needed toiletries for residents of Sojourner Place, Unity House’s shelter for victims of domestic and dating abuse.

Maximistas on the Move

Thoughtful generosity is not new to the caring crew at our local TJ Maxx store on Vandenburgh Avenue. In the Spring, the group made beautiful Easter baskets for children at Unity House.

Like last time, they did not just collect items to be donated. They took the time to sort the needed items and package them up in handy baskets. Personal care items like shampoo, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products and more are very much needed at Unity House’s shelter, where newcomers often arrive with little more than the clothes on their back. The baskets are particularly handy when residing temporarily in Sojourner Place, and for when residents are moving onward to stable housing. The personal care items are more than just toiletries- it’s a package of kindness for someone who perhaps needs it most.

To top it off, the baskets were displayed beautifully in the store, helping to raise awareness of the issues and needs in our community.  The next time you stop in at TJ Maxx, please thank them for their kindness. The staff there are part of a large corporation, but their hearts show that they are very much a part of the community where they live and work. Unity House is grateful to count them among our friends and neighbors.

On behalf of those we serve, thank you to everyone at TJ Maxx. Special thanks to Regional Manager, Mr. Felix Valdes, for taking the time to meet with us and help deliver the gifts.
