You know that Troy is home to lots of creativity and innovation, but did you know Troy is home to high tech as well?
Troy-based Apprenda was drawn to the vibrant, creative scene of downtown Troy and made it their home. Currently operating out of the Hedley building, staff often drive by Unity House’s Front Door. Curiosity led them to learning more about our human services agency. When it came time to find end of year gifts for staff, they chose another vibrant, local firm: Twill Blankets. Twill makes organic cotton blankets with a twist. For each blanket purchased, Twill donates a blanket to a local charity. These Blanket Buddies, as Twill calls them, are the lucky recipients of two sources of generosity: the blanket buyer and Twill.
Unity House was thrilled to get a call about a donation. We were even more surprised when it turns out it was 120 blankets! These donated Twill blankets- all 100% organic cotton- are going to kids in Unity House Domestic Violence Services Program. They are the perfect size for kids, and we love that when the children move on to stable housing, they can take it with them. Take about a warm treasure- who doesn’t love their blankey!?!
Many thanks to Apprenda- for their curiosity and their generosity! And many thanks to Twill for their wonderful blankets and for having a business plan that spreads generosity one blanket at a time.
Unity House is grateful to receive these donations and grateful to live in a community filled with caring neighbors and businesses that chose Rensselaer County for their home.
