With the help of the Junior League of Troy, a civic group whose focus this year is on literacy, Unity House clients in the Domestic Violence Services Program will benefit from World Book Night 2014. World Book Night, commemorated on William Shakespeare’s birthday, strives to inspire a love of reading by giving a copy of a treasured book as a gift. The book pick for clients in the DV Services Program is Cheryl Strayed’s memoir, ‘Wild’.Soon to be a major motion picture, this 2012 novel tells the story of Strayed’s hiking journey on the Pacific Crest Trail.
Many thanks to the members of the Junior League of Troy for bringing this valuable program to Unity House. For more information on how you can help, contact Diane Cameron Pascone at (518) 274-2607, x4133.
