NEW Socks and Underwear Needed

What do you need? How can we help?

When people come to Unity House’s community resource center, these are among the questions we ask. We try our best to help people with life’s essentials.

Most often these needs are around food and housing. It’s wonderful when we can help someone by packing up a 3-5 day supply of groceries, serve them a hot meal, or find just the right-sized winter coat for their child who doesn’t have one.

There are some needs we have trouble filling: new socks, underwear, and bras. We have clothing, gently used, that we are able to give to people in need, free of charge. Our thrift store, ReStyle is closed to public shoppers. However, our inventory is as strong as ever. So when someone needs clothing, we are able to get them clothes, shoes and accessories they can use.*

However, we often lack new undergarments for those who need them. If you’d like to help, please consider buying new underwear, men’s and women’s, any sizes. We can also use bras and socks in all sizes and styles.

We can pick up your donation or group collection, if local. You can also consult our Wish Lists online and send items directly to Unity House or peruse them for inspiration. Questions? Please don’t hesitate to call: (518) 274-2607.

On behalf of people needing help with life’s essentials, thank you.

*If you are interested in donating clothing, please bear in mind that clothing should be:

  • In-season
  • Ready to wear: must be clean and free of rips or stains
  • In a manageable quantity as we must be able to safely process the donation to make it available to people in need

If you have a question about whether we can use your donation, please give us a call at (518) 274-2607 for a conversation. You can also consult our lists of things we can use and things we cannot easily use.
