Virtusa Staff Part of Food Pantry Collection

Staff and friends from Virtusa, a global IT consulting firm with an office in the Rensselaer Tech Park, were part of a food drive to help stock the shelves of the Unity House Food Pantry.  Responding to the request for help a few weeks ago, one staffer put the call out to her colleagues and friends to collect food to stock the shelves.  Weeks later, they arrived a car load FULL of groceries.

They helped stock the shelves with pasta, cereal, peanut butter, pasta sauce, rice and cans of beans.  All of the food will be a great help to the many consumers who come to the Unity House food pantry in need of assistance.  Last year, the Unity House food pantry helped with over 100,000 meals to area families who are struggling. To help your local food pantry, consider hosting a drive to collect nutrient-dense food or make a donation in support of food programs. Most food pantries can purchase food for pennies on the dollar through their regional food bank, making your cash donation go farther for the pantry than if you were to purchase groceries and donate them.
