Sojourner Place, Unity House’s shelter for victims of domestic violence, is in need of household sundries for their guests who move from residential stays to permanent housing. The shelter, renamed Sojourner Place when the new building was unveiled in 2012, has 33 beds and is always at capacity. Sojourner Place is a big improvement over the old shelter and offers flexible room configuration to better accommodate men, transgender and women with children.
When guests move on from shelter, they are often in need of linens, toiletries and kitchen goods. Needed items include:
- Twin sized sheet sets
- Comforter Sets- twin and other sizes. These items can be gently used and are most helpful when packaged as a set and clearly labeled.
- Towels
- Toiletries and Baby items- any item you would use in the bathroom or at a baby changing station is in great demand.
- Undergarments- new bras and underwear, in larger sizes, are always needed.
- Kitchen gear- plates and pots & pans, either sets or one-off pieces.
