Unity House is pleased to announce the official start of constuction of The Front Door, a community resource center located at their site at 2431 Sixth Avenue in Troy. The building is part of Unity House’s Capital Campaign, an effort to raise $8 million to build The Front Door as well as Sojourner Place, a shelter for victims of domestic violence.
The Front Door is expected to open in late Fall 2013 and will offer human services at a location accessible via mass transit and within walking distrance for many. The Front Door will offer emergency housing assistance, mental health services, housing support, employment training, and case management services to many of the neediest members of the community, all under one roof. Unity House’s thrift store, the Unique Boutique, and the food pantry will also be at the new building, as well as the congregate meals program, Bethany @ Unity (currently located at St. Paul’s Church in downtown Troy.)
