Wonderful “Adopt-A-Family” holiday program off and running!

Unity House is proud to team up with neighboring human services organization Commission Economic Opportunity to help families in need this holiday season. The Adopt-A-Family program provides holiday gifts to families in need who are receiving services. Traditionally, generous individual and corporate donors have “adopted” kids, purchasing gifts which were distributed right before the holidays.

Through efforts to make a larger impact and create a more empowering experience for parents, Unity House and CEO have created a new facet to the program whereby parents who need help can shop in a store stocked with new and gently used toys and educational items for children. This program model will create a retail-like experience for families served by both CEO and Unity House. Donations will be organized by age-group suitability, and parents will be able to “shop” (at no cost) for their children for the holidays.

Those in need of services, can make an appointment at or drop in to CEO or Unity House for a full intake assessment.  Interested individuals or groups who want to help support the Adopt a Family Program can help by conducting a toy drive, asking for specific wish-lists, donating gift cards to stores or making a donation to the Adopt a Family program.  Know that every donation will be gratefully received and passed on to a grateful child.
