Burritos for All!

Summer Concert Series able to offer free dinner thanks to Unity House

The Spirit of the Suffragette’s summer concert series, hosted by the Sanctuary for Independent Media in North Central Troy, shows a lot about what can happen when many come together as one. In this case, people get fed a free dinner.

Unity House is among several sponsors of the Tuesday evening concert series and resource fair held every Tuesday in Freedom Square. Tuesday, July 23rd saw amazing performances by Climbing PoeTree and OKAN, and Afro-Cuban group that featured an electric violin. Many people enjoyed free food provided by Unity House and cooked by the Sanctuary’s Summer Youth cadre. The crew prepared a delicious burrito bar of rice and beans, cheese, sour cream and salsa, and delicious cake for dessert. There was also ice cold water, and mint tea with an optional simple syrup that was infused with herbs from the  nearby Collard City Growers. It was a lovely evening of food, fellowship, music, and more.
