Spring Into Action!

Unity House Rides Against Racism and Walks to CROP Hunger

Spring is a time to get outside and renew your commitment to social justice!

You can join Unity House and friends at two great Spring events:

Saturday, May 1st: The YWCA’s Ride Against Racism.

At this event, you can join the Unity House team of bike riders, donate to support our team, or donate directly to the YWCA for this fundraiser which serves as a way to bring awareness to the plague of racism. The YWCA of the Greater Capital Region is located in downtown Troy. They are dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

Note: you can find this event on Facebook or through the YWCA website. This event is a fundraiser for the YWCA and registration to ride is required to join in at the ride check-in points in Bethlehem, Albany, and Watervliet at the course of the gorgeous Corning Preserve trail in Albany.

This is a self-coordinated bike ride with no starting or finish line, chip-timing, or firm start and end times. You will also have the option to participate virtually if you prefer. YWCA-GCR will staff three check-in sites along the bike trail during the listed times for you to receive your swag bag, say hello, get food or water, and ride on. Rain Date: Sunday, May 2, 2021. Questions? Contact Jamie Crouse at the YWCA at

Sunday, May 2nd: The Troy/Renssalaer CROP Hunger Walk

At this event you can join Unity House staff and friends in a DIY style walk. The walk has no start or end times, no organized route and you can participate virtually, if that’s your style.  You are encouraged to find and share about the event online. You can find the Unity House team here. You can join our team or make a donation in support of our team. Proceeds from the CROP Hunger Walk support programs, like those at Unity House, that address food insecurity.

Many thanks to TAUM for again organizing the Troy/Rensselaer CROP Hunger Walk.

Thanks to everyone who is getting outside and standing/walking/riding for causes you believe in and that make life better. You are being the change you wish to see in the world!
