On Saturday, November 12th student volunteers will help host a pop up shop to benefit Unity House.
A pop up shop is a temporary shop that seems to pop up out of nowhere. For the event on the 12th, it’s a place to buy some of the gently-used clothes, shoes and accessories found in ReStyle, Unity House’s store which has a brick and mortar location at 24321 6th Avenue in Troy. The goal of the pop up shop is to spread the word about this amazing community resource where anyone can shop, and to raise money for needed programs at Unity House. Another benefit is to remind folks that Unity House is a great place to donate their gently-used closet cast-offs. At ReStyle, clothes are put out on the sales floor for shoppers but also made available to anyone with an emergency need, free of charge, via a voucher. In this way, shoppers have the dignity of picking and choosing what will best meet their needs, instead of being handed an outfit they may not have chosen for themselves.
Check out this flyer to share details on the Pop Up Shop, which runs on Saturday, November 12 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at Bush Memorial.
Many thanks to the fabulous friends at Russell Sage College for hosting and volunteering at this fun event.
